A group of actors, singers and a late-night host posted celebratory reactions on Wednesday after networks projected that Democrats had won the House and the Senate in Tuesday's midterm elections. According to Variety, the Associated Press had not called either chamber as of its writing, so the projections remain unconfirmed by that standard.
The roll call, as Breitbart News reported, included Barbra Streisand, Mia Farrow, John Cusack, Rosie O'Donnell, John Leguizamo, Chris Meloni and Carrie Coon, along with Jimmy Kimmel and the Chicks. Breitbart says Kimmel opened his show with a celebratory monologue and the Chicks opened their Los Angeles show with an election reaction. The common target was President Trump.
One caution applies to everything below. The original posts were not independently viewed for this story. Breitbart embedded them as widget links, and most of what follows rests on that single outlet's account.
Early Posts on Bluesky
Streisand posted on Bluesky at 4:26 a.m. on Wednesday, according to Breitbart; the time zone was not stated. Her message was brief: "Democracy has prevailed." Breitbart also reports she claimed that "The House has flipped and the Senate as well." That matched network projections at the time of her post, but the AP call was still pending per Variety, and final or certified results have not been checked.
Farrow posted on Bluesky at 7:05 a.m. that day. "We the people have spoken," she wrote, before listing "corruption, cruelty, tariffs, unaffordable everything, war, lies, neglect, bullying."
Cusack also posted on Bluesky. Breitbart quotes him as writing: "Texas South Carolina Say fuck you to trump." That line became the headline on Breitbart's story, though it was Cusack's alone, not the group's. In a second post, he said Trump and Musk were being beaten in Texas "and all over the country." His Texas and South Carolina references and the Musk claim are unverified; no South Carolina result has been checked.
Other Reactions, and What Is Unverified
On X, Leguizamo posted, per Breitbart, "Redemption time! Repudiation time!" O'Donnell, according to Breitbart, said the election was a warning to Trump, his "sycophants" and his "criminal friends." Breitbart's embed of her post did not show the platform, and her wording needs to be checked against the original.
Meloni posted on X, according to Breitbart, calling Trump a "convicted felon" and an "alleged pedophile," among other insults. Those are Meloni's own claims. They are unverified, and he did not elaborate.
Several other reactions were available only as embeds that could not be read, including those from Kimmel, the Chicks, Coon, Charlamagne tha God, and an actor Breitbart described only as a Marvel superhero actor without naming him. Breitbart says Coon accused Republicans of being "corrupt" and that Charlamagne attacked MAGA voters and Trump. Their exact wording, and the actor's identity, need checking against the original posts. Breitbart's own descriptions of the posts, including words like "gloat," "blowout" and "extremist," are the outlet's characterizations, not findings.
What the Results Show So Far
According to Variety, CNN called the Senate at 11:35 p.m. Eastern with at least 51 seats for Democrats, and MS NOW called the House just before 10 p.m. Variety reported that Hakeem Jeffries is in line for Speaker.
CNBC's live blog, seen only in search snippets and not opened for this story, appears to cite Democratic Senate pickups in Texas, North Carolina and Iowa, and a win for Jon Ossoff in Georgia. Those details are unverified here. Final margins were not given in Breitbart's article. As of this writing, no response from Trump or the White House to the celebrity posts had been reported.
Next come the AP calls, final counts, any recounts in close races, and certification. Jeffries' Speaker vote is expected when the new Congress convenes. A Trump or Republican response has yet to come, and the original posts still need to be checked against what Breitbart described.
