Trump: DOJ, Others Need to Step Up to Challenge 2020 Results

President Donald Trump on Monday called on the Justice Department “and other people” to step up and challenge the results of the 2020 presidential election, Mediaite reports.

Trump made the comments during a phone call into the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit Monday. He also told the crowd he won “in a landslide.”

Turning Point USA is a conservative student organization founded in 2012 that is now pro-Trump. According to the group’s website, its mission is “to build the most organized, active, and powerful conservative grassroots activist network on high school and college campuses across the country.”

The group is holding its summit in West Palm Beach, Fla., from Dec. 19-22.

Attorney General Bill Barr, who is set to step down Wednesday, several weeks ago said the DOJ had seen no evidence of widespread voter fraud. On Monday, in his final press conference, Barr said he saw “no reason” to seize Dominion voting machines in a major break from Trump.

He also said he didn’t see any reason to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate claims of voter fraud.

“If I thought that a special counsel at this stage was the right tool, and was appropriate I would name one but I haven’t and I’m not going to,” Barr said.

The Electoral College made Joe Biden’s victory formal on Dec. 14. Several lawmakers are planning to contest those results on Jan. 6, the ceremonial process of Congress counting the electoral votes, including Reps. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., Matt Gaetz, R-Fla, and Rep.-elect Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga.

Sen.-Elect Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., on Monday recently said he would fight to “get [the election outcome] corrected.”

It takes one member of the House and one senator to formally object and force votes in both chambers.
