A 70-year-old attorney licensed in Florida was arrested by Homeland Security Investigations after a Mississippi gun store employee described a conversation about shooting ICE officers, according to a criminal complaint. The complaint says she wanted to know whether a gun could get through body armor.
WLOX reported on the complaint. It identifies the woman as Lisa White of Diamondhead, Miss., and says court documents describe her as eligible to practice law in Florida. A charge of influencing, impeding or retaliating against a federal official by threat is being prepared. That count carries up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The allegations come from the employee's account as written into the complaint. They are allegations, and no statement from White or a lawyer for her appeared in the coverage reviewed.
What the Complaint Says Happened at High Caliber Guns
According to WLOX's account of the complaint, White walked into High Caliber Guns in Long Beach at about 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 23 to buy a firearm and pepper spray. She said she needed protection at protests and described herself as a protester and an activist.
The complaint says she gestured at her torso and asked whether the gun could go through body armor. If it could not, the complaint says, she said she would shoot for the head, shoulder, arm or leg instead. WLOX and Breitbart paraphrase her as saying ICE agents were becoming "crazy and wild," which is their wording of the complaint's account rather than a direct quote from her. The complaint also attributes this line to her: "If I have to die, I have to die."
The employee suggested mace and a shooting range. White came back at about 12:48 p.m. The owner denied the sale, told her to return in several days, and reported her to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which referred the matter to HSI. HSI interviewed the employee.
How Federal Officials Are Treating It
Matthew Reidell, the assistant special agent in charge of HSI's Gulfport office, gave WLOX a short statement: "The safety of our personnel is paramount, and HSI takes any threat against federal law enforcement officers with the utmost seriousness."
HSI also identified White as a Florida attorney in a post on X, Fox News reported. Citing an ICE release, Fox said she was accused of threatening to "kill federal agents." The Fox page we retrieved returned no body text, so those details come from a truncated search extract rather than the full article. Breitbart News followed on Oct. 23. It cited WLOX and Hoodline New Orleans, which Breitbart says reported that HSI interviewed witnesses and then arrested her. We did not see the Hoodline report itself.
What Is Still Unclear
Several basic facts are unsettled. WLOX says Gulfport HSI agents arrested White on Sept. 24. Post Millennial and Ground News give Sept. 23, and WTSP says Tuesday, which would be Oct. 20. WLOX's date is likely correct, but it has not been checked against the complaint. Breitbart gives no arrest date and describes the store visit only as late September.
WLOX and Breitbart both describe Nov. 16 as a trial date. That would be very fast for a case that still rests on a complaint, and it may turn out to be a hearing. Post Millennial says a federal grand jury indicted White. WLOX says charges are still being prepared, so the indictment claim is unconfirmed here. Post Millennial also names the Southern District of Mississippi, but we did not find which court the complaint was filed in.
Her custody status is also unclear. WLOX said she was being held, and Breitbart said she was under arrest. No detention or bond ruling has been reported, and nothing has been reported on her bar status or any action by the Florida Bar. The "Florida attorney" label is accurate as far as it goes, but she lives in Mississippi.
What Comes Next
The next public markers are a formal charging document and whatever happens in court on Nov. 16. Those should settle the arrest date, the court handling the case and whether White stays in custody. Until then, the case rests on the account in the complaint, which White has not answered publicly.
