The intraparty bickering continues over the question of doing away with the filibuster in order to pass Biden’s partisan voting rights legislation in the Senate. Democrat members of Congress are pointing their fingers at Senators Manchin and Sinema for refusing to go along with their harebrained scheme to nuke the filibuster in the Senate. The rhetoric is getting pretty heated, with Maxine Waters calling the two senators racists who don’t care about people in their own districts. And, Rep. Adriano Espaillat says that the two “must face consequences” for not being sheeple.
Kamala spoke at the annual Martin Luther King memorial service at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta today. MLK was the pastor of that church, the current pastor is Senator Raphael Warnock. Kamala inserted politics into her speech by saying the right to vote in America is “under assault”. The King family said there will be no celebration of MLK until voting rights legislation is passed. Biden posted a hateful speech against Republicans and voter integrity legislation in several states. He pointed to “voter suppression” and “election subversion”, along with a January 6 reference.

That was the first tweet posted on his account today. Then whoever manages his account had the balls to include a piece of his hideously divisive speech last week in Atlanta.

This administration is hopelessly tone-deaf and unable of delivering a unifying message, even on the day set aside to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. It is no wonder that Biden can’t even get his own party on the same page, much less get support from Republicans on his attempt to nationalize all elections and take away state control of elections. The mantra from Democrats is by any means necessary, which is how commies speak about doing things. Democrats are particularly desperate as they see their very slim margin as a majority in Congress slipping away as the midterm elections approach this year. Biden’s extraordinary failure as president in his first year in office is destroying his party’s chances of success in 2022. I’m good with that.
During a Sunday interview on MSNBC (of course), Maxine Waters said Manchin and Sinema just “don’t care” about black and brown people.
“They have sent the signal. They have been clear about it. They don’t care about minorities. They don’t care about Blacks. They don’t care about people in their own districts who they’re going to deny their voting rights and undermine their voting rights,” Waters said.
“I must always be optimistic. But this is a very difficult time for Democrats,” Watters said. “We have two Democrats, Manchin and Sinema, and they are holding up the Democratic agenda. They have decided that they are going to stick with support of the filibuster, and they don’t care whether or not they undermine the rights of minorities and Blacks in this country.”
Does this old, radical progressive sitting in the House long past her expiration date think that this is the argument to be making to convince Manchin and Sinema to suddenly see the light and agree to nuke the filibuster? Apparently so. She is joined by New York Congressman Adriano Espaillat who says the senators must face consequences for exercising their right to their own opinions on the filibuster. Is attempting to strongarm the senators any more productive than calling them names? Don’t get me wrong – I’m happy for Democrats to continue to go down this path. It makes a red tsunami more and more certain come November.
In an interview with SiriusXM radio host Dean Obeidallah that was posted online Saturday afternoon, Obeidallah asked Espaillat: “If President Biden and [Majority Leader] Schumer cannot in any way motivate, pressure… Manchin and Sinema, can President Biden, do you hope he’ll use executive orders? Are there other things he can do to convey to our fellow Americans the importance of this, if we don’t have legislation?”
“There must be consequences,” Espaillat responded. “It’s as simple as that. The president calls you and you’re going to derail one of his top initiatives, our vision? There’s got to be consequences for this.”
“And they’re very precise,” he added. “They fit each state, and each leader in very precise ways. And so I’m sure once the consequences are laid out for them there may be an opportunity for a meeting of the minds.”
The congressman said that ultimately, Biden “may have to resort to an executive order.”
“But I think from now until then, there’s still a big stretch and much must be done to push these two senators to line up and be in lock-step with our leadership if they are part of our team. It’s as simple as that,” Espaillat said.
Rep. Espaillat seems to forget which country he resides in. This isn’t Russia or China, politicians don’t have to “be in lock-step with leadership”. Good Lord. What does he think should be done? Maybe send over some goons to twist some arms, or just kick the two out of the Democrat Party? The two senators represent their entire states, not just their party and they are not obligated to be in lock-step with anyone but the people they represent. Espaillat is a little too carried away with our new authoritarian overlords in Washington, D.C. Settle down, Adriano.
These two members of the House need to get outside of their far-left bubbles and talk to some real Americans. It’s no wonder that Biden and his minions can’t get Manchin and Sinema on their side. This kind of rhetoric won’t convince them of the wisdom of nuking the filibuster, it will just make Manchin and Sinema dig in deeper. Which is just fine with me.
